Macbeth PosterBy the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes...

And what’s coming is Macbeth in Circle 67’s annual Shorter Shakespeare Summer Tour, with Steve Chadwick directing a script adapted by Sandy Martin MP for our first production of Macbeth in 1993.

The play is set in medieval Scotland where Macbeth, a brave general, receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become king. Consumed by ambition and spurred into action by his wife, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the Scottish throne for himself.

Afterwards, Macbeth’s guilt, fear and paranoia lead him to commit more murders to secure his power. His confidence in the prophecies eventually leads to his downfall and he is overthrown and killed by those he has wronged.

Already the shortest of the tragedies, this one-hour version packs almost as much witchcraft, murder, madness and retribution as the great original itself. Come and see the story unfold at one of our favourite local open-air venues while enjoying a leisurely drink on a summer’s evening.

We are touring from the 24th to 29th July to our favourite local venues -

Bramfield: The Queen's Head, Tue 24 July, 7.30pm
Bungay Castle, Wed 25 July, 7.30pm *
Laxfield: The King's Head, Thur 26 July, 7.30pm
Dunwich: The Ship, Fri 27 July, 7.30pm
Sibton: The White Horse, Sat 28 July, 7.30pm
Wenhaston: Church Common, Sun 29 July, 2.30pm

* Admission to Bungay Castle is by free ticket only.

We’ll provide basic seating and admission is free. Our performance will last around an hour (or about the time it takes to enjoy a leisurely drink on a summer’s evening) and as usual, we'll pass a hat round at the end, so please give generously if you enjoy the show - the money we raise helps subsidise our full stage productions.

If Shakespeare at school put you off, come and see if we can change your mind with a bit of fast-moving and colourful entertainment.
