The Shorter Summer Shakespeare Summer Tour 2024 - Twelfth Night

LaTourBlancheWe started our outdoor Shorter Shakespeare tours in 1984 with around half-an-hour of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and gradually seem to have doubled the length to about an hour, in venues such as pub gardens (Geldeston Locks, The Low House, Westhall Racehorse, etc.), Bungay Castle and Castle Meadow in Bramfield.

And we’ve been invited back to France for our fourth visit to the Dordogne in south-west France. We will be based at a converted 18th century barn where there is limited inside accommodation and unlimited space for camping, caravans, etc, with a wide choice of other options.

So, ideally we’re looking for a cast to take part in the usual UK tour from 15 to 21 July, and then on the 26, 27 and 28 July in three very special places in the Dronne Valley. The previous three French tours have been very successful and a great deal of fun!

We’ll read the play and get initial casting ideas at 7.30pm on Monday, 8 January in Bramfield Village Hall. Please come even if you can’t go to France as it’s by no means certain that we will go. Twelfth Night has some of Shakespeare’s best roles - both female and male!

Nell Gwynn

OrangesWe are delighted to confirm that Circle 67’s Spring 2024 production will be Nell Gwynn by Jessica Swale. We had originally planned to perform this play in Spring 2020 but COVID scuppered our plans. However, like the theatres of the Restoration we are back, determined to help you forget the memories of war and pestilence with this vibrant, colourful romp through the life and times of the renowned actress and King Charles the 2nd’s most famous mistress, Nell Gwynn.

There will be three performances;  2, 3, 4 May at The Cut in Halesworth.

The reading/casting is at 7.00pm (prompt start please) on Monday, 15 January in Bramfield Village Hall. Rehearsals will start the following week.

For further information on either production please contact us.
