A Midsummer Night's Dream

Over hill, over dale
Thorough bush, thorough brier
Over park, over pale,
Thorough flood, thorough fire,
I do wander everywhere;

This fairy's answer to Puck's question, "whither wander you?" is certainly true of Circle 67 this July, as in addition to our usual tour of local venues, we will once again be travelling the 650 miles to the Dordogne area of south-west France for three performances in stunning locations. It was in 2013 that we first ventured outside Suffolk with our shortened version of Much Ado About Nothing. The production was so well received that we have decided to return this year to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, (well any excuse for a holiday really!).

A Midsummer Night’s Dream must be the best-known and funniest of Shakespeare’s comedies, relating the attempts of a group of illiterate yokels to prepare a play to celebrate the wedding between Theseus and Hippolyta and a quarrel in fairyland that threatens to upset everything.

We are touring from the 20th to 24th July to our favourite local venues, including pubs in Laxfield, Dunwich and Sibton, the castle in Bungay and the common in Wenhaston. We had hoped that our opening night would be at The Queen’s Head in Bramfield (as it traditionally has been), but unfortunately the pub's refurbishment won't now be completed in time - we have been eagerly awaiting the reopening of our usual post-rehearsal watering hole and also look forward to returning with our Shakespeare tour next year. In France our performances are 29th to 31st July. Full tour schedule below.

We’ll provide basic seating and admission is free. Our performance will last around an hour (or about the time it takes to enjoy a leisurely drink on a summer’s evening) and as usual, we'll pass a hat round at the end, so please give generously if you enjoy the show - the money we raise helps subsidise our full stage productions.
